Admissions:

Applications for nursery places are accepted all year round, at Silverdale Nursery. We have an appointment system on a Tuesday afternoon and a Thursday morning for new applications. The information contained in the application is considered at the Admissions Panel and will be banded accordingly. Allocation of places will be dependent on highest priority and availability. All nursery places are allocated in line with GCC Admissions Policy. An area admission panel will meet at regular intervals throughout the year to decide how nursery places will be allocated, however in between those panels, the Nursery Head can allocate spaces as they become available.

If you would be interested in applying for a nursery space, please drop in to see us and collect an application pack, which will entail what evidence you would be required to provide to support your nursery application.

Enrolment Procedures

If your child is offered a place a date will be set for them so start with us, and they will have a settling in period. On your child’s first day at nursery, we ask that you attend for one hour and a familiar adult waits too.  This time will be increased daily until we are confident your child has settled in comfortably.

The nursery operates a key-worker system. A key-worker is simply your child’s special person whom they will relate to. Your child’s key-worker will assist you in settling your child into nursery, meeting all their needs, and they will inform you of his/her progress. When they start there will be additional paperwork to fill in e.g. Enrolment forms, Seesaw Consent forms, Excursions/Visit forms, groupcall details, permissions forms and your child’s care plan.

If you have any questions or queries, please talk to your child’s key-worker who will be willing to assist at the beginning or end of each session or you may prefer to discuss queries with a member of management.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION PARENTS/CARERS

CLOTHING

Please ensure that your child comes to nursery with appropriate clothing & plenty of changes of clothes as sometimes accidents can happen. If your child was to have any toilet accidents and we had no clothes, we would have to call you to bring a change over which can be an inconvenience for yourself. Children also access daily outdoor play in all weather unless it is hazardous conditions. These are a couple of things to make sure you bring to nursery:

Wellies, Outdoor Jacket, Spare Clothes, Spare Shoes, Sun Hat, Winter Hat, Scarf & Gloves.

  • Toy Fund

We ask that all parents/carers contribute £2 per child per week to the nursery Toy Fund. This money is used to help us buy some resources, materials and enables us to facilitate trips & parties for the children in the nursery. Without your contributions this would be very difficult to facilitate so your continued support is very much appreciated.

Toy Fund can be handed in at any time to the front office but we usually put a tin out on a Tuesday for collections..

  • Group Call/Xpressions App

Please download our Xpressions App which can be found in the App Store. Messages can also be translated to your preferred language to ease any communication barriers. Please ensure you download and complete the form with your email address in this enrolment pack. Please Note: If you do not have the app or provide us with an email you will not receive important information being sent out by the nursery.

  • Contact Details

Please ensure that your contact details are updated regularly.

We understand that sometimes parents & carers can change their phone numbers or move house. It is very important that you ensure you update any details with the nursery for any correspondence to be sent. Please also list at least 1 emergency contact in the event that we cannot reach yourself. It is important that we can contact someone regarding your child at any point in the day.
